Quite often we have a corner of our lounge room just sitting and waiting for the perfect arm chair to fill the space. A chair for dad to watch telly, for mum to read or just a feature arm chair to look charming, sexy or cosy depending on your decorating style. It can introduce colour and pattern to the room in a small dose (until you get a little braver) and add some personality to the room. Usually choosing an arm chair in a contrasting style to the rest of the furniture in the room really makes it stand out.
It kind of says 'look at me' so it can be a lovely focal point, if you have it placed near windows that have great views it will draw your eye towards the view or place it near your fireplace if you want to draw attention to that, especially if you have a stunning artwork above it and the chair and art work will compliment each other rather than compete if you have chosen the right chair of course!
If you are actually going to use the chair make sure it's comfortable otherwise choose an arm chair that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and compliments the decor of the room. A feature arm chair can be the starting point for the colour palette of a room and set the theme in motion as can art work. If using a patterned fabric on your chair pull out a couple of accent colours to use for your decorating say for cushions, throws and rugs.
Here are 5 fabulous feature chairs to get your ideas flowing starting with the pretty chair below, what colours would you take from this chair to use as accents?

One way to add a kick of colour to any room is to use fabric, mixing and matching prints, stripes, spots and plains. Some designers have a real knack for knowing where to use it, how much to use it and how to co-ordinate it with paint colours, flooring and accessories. Bright and bold floral fabrics leave us a little breathless and we especially love romantic watercolour prints.
Consider using floral fabrics for sofas, lampshades, cushions, drapes, headboards, chairs and ottomans and drawing out one or two accent colours to use for accessories.
We have collected 5 of our favourite bold floral fabrics for you to drool over!!!
