Scoundrels & Scavengers - the great bus tour!!

Recently Dwell South Coast hosted it's first Mystery Bus Tour.  It was a great day out visiting our favourite second hand furniture and homewares shopping spots south of Wollongong.  Along came 10 enthusiastic shoppers who delightedly grabbed themselves some bargains along the way.

We started at Restored Worthy Goods in Shellharbour before heading off to Rare Find in Warilla and then hit Port Kembla - a treasure trove of interesting little shops full of personality and great finds.  Our faves here were Wentworth Emporium, Ambling Home and Restore & Upcycled (but there were more too).

Lunch was at The Foundry run by the Salvation Army and it was just delicious.  After lunch we roamed the streets finding more bargains and found a couple of our ladies sipping champagne in one of the pubs - brave huh?  Camp Leader had to round them up and muster them back to the bus so we could head on home, stopping at Cafe 10 for a bit of bartering with owner Sol, a character and a half!

A Date with Dirty Who?

Dirty Jane is not the name of the person who answers the telephone.

Dwell has been to Dirty Jane's at Bowral more than a few times but we have not managed to get ourselves to an Auction (weekend, kids sport, husbands etc). It is on our 'to do' list for 2015. Might see you there ;)

Dates for your diary are ....

8th March + 17th May + 12th July + 13th September + 8th November            We have lifted the following excerpt from The Dirty Jane website

When the gates swing open 9am Sunday morning, you’re greeted with a huge selection of furniture, gardenware, architectural elements and bric a brac displayed in long rows for all to inspect, ready for auction time at 10am. All bidders must register and have a bidders number. A buyers premium of 17.5% applies.

Below are some of the fabulous stalls within the 'warehouse style' set-up of Dirty Janes

Take a Look Around

So take a look around you .... some people stop to smell the roses ... others stop to look at the colours in their everyday surroundings - we do the latter!

Below are some of my snap shots from last years holiday in England. The colours of Singapore are next ;)

Look at nature when you next want to decorate and pair colours. As Sharlene likes to say 'nature rarely gets it wrong'

The floor boards below are from a home built in the 1700's ... beautifully worn

And these tiles are from the home above. Tiles in the 1700's  ... so many people would have crossed this floor to give the tiles a wonderfully 'smooth to touch' finish. Anyone laying these at home?
