Berry Gardens Festival

Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th of October

This is a favourite of ours. We love looking at what other people have achieved in their gardens. As Decorators we focus on the interior of the home & when it comes to the exterior it doesn't extend past a Colour Scheme. So snooping around in the garden is an absolute pleasure - we're never asked what should be done with a retaining wall, duck pond or garden path (thank heavens).

The cost to see all 8 gardens is $20 {any profit is donated to local charities & other ventures of benefit in the community - after discussion with garden owners}

Selling your Home

BOOM and the boom is over - or is it? How 'well' you sell will depend a lot on you

According to the Sydney Morning Herald,  Domain Section February 26/27th there are 6 steps to selling in 2016. Oh and they all begin with 'P'

Pricing - my comments - get realistic! Do some basic research. Look at what has sold in your street, your neighbourhood, your area. You may keep your home 'neat as a pin' but if it's 30 years old and has never been renovated then this is a future cost for the buyer to factor in.  What has your place got that entices buyers? Have you got an edge? How does it compare to others in your area and price range?

Presentation - my comments - use paint. It's cheap and freshens up better than a cleaning product ;) but you do need to clean and prep first! Below are some all time favourites from Dulux.

Promotion - my comments - pick an agent that suits your home ie if they sell farms don't use them for your town duplex. Pick an agent in your area with a great reputation who knows your market. They will then target & promote to the right people.

Photography - my comments - don't deceive. Yes make it look pretty but don't manipulate all the colours on the spectrum & use lenses to make the lawn look huge when it's not... my opinion is that it 'pisses people off' - can I say that?

Placement - my comments - same as promotion really. Is the home for a retired couple or frantic family of 6? Decide who your buyer are and aim your property at the right target market.  Prepare and style it for them, make it so attractive that they can imagine themselves living there.

Potential - my comments - don't put a shit hot kitchen (can I say that?) in a ho hum house! REINSW President John Cunningham states 'If something is under-done, half done or partially done, then that can lead to a massive discount on your house' BUT 'If it's 90% untouched, leave it - people can see potential and love a blank canvas'. Sometimes a spruce up is all you need.

We have packages that can help you sell your house - look on our website, email or call us - could be easier than you think ;)

Byani Organics

Here at Dwell we just love a little organic love paired with local business and Byani Organics is the perfect example.

In my search for all things natural, organic and lovely I discovered Byani Organics.  Actually a good friend of mine - Jodie from Belljar Interiors, put me on to them.  Byani was co-founded by her sister Penny and her friend Trudy and is hand-made by them in Stanwell Park.

Byani's philosophy is simple, in the words of Penny and Trudi "We choose to use ingredients that contain healing and anti-ageing benefits as well as being as close to their natural state as possible - they are pure, ethical and sustainable." 10 out of 10 from me!

I use Byani as part of my daily beauty routine.  Each morning after I shower I use Rosehip & Raspberry Face Serum and in the evening after cleansing with Lemon & Bergamot Cleanser then follow up with Geranium & Avocado Rich Face Balm.  Twice weekly I use the Petitgrain & Rosehip Gentle Face Polish which leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft.

Byani also have mens products, soaps and a great baby and sensitive skin pack.  Go ahead give it a try, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Foragers Market

The Foragers Market at Bulli Showgrounds in North Wollongong is something I've had on my 'to do' list since it opened.  I timed my visit for the 2nd Sunday of the month which is when the 'makers day' is on.  Foragers is on each Sunday and is food and produce based - FYI the food is exquisite and the produce is fresh local farm produce, I could go each week for that alone!  I dragged hubby along and he also really enjoyed it - especially the food (I think it's a bloke thing).

I really loved the 'makers day', there were some great stalls and different stuff, not the usual junky imports you find at a lot of markets.  It seems to me that the stalls are all carefully curated and hand selected to be at the markets and it shows.  Some favourites were The Nourish Boutique, reedsmithco and KING of the Blocks. There were so many people there absorbing the atmosphere, shopping and enjoying the busking.  I am going back again next month for 'makers day' and taking a car full of girlfriends to enjoy the day with me!

Here are some pics I grabbed off the Foragers Facebook page, make sure you check them out on both FB and Instagram.
