Shades of blue just for youRead More
Following on from our 'Pantone Colour of the Year' post earlier in the month we here at Dwell South Coast thought you might like a little more colour inspiration. How gorgeous, dark and rich are these images? All colour swatches are by Porters Paints.
We are loving the new Pantone colour of the year here at Dwell. With the onset of winter it feels rich, velvety and warm. You may love it or hate it but for us it conjurs up so many possibilities. We love a colour challenge and I bet you are looking at this colour wondering “how the heck do you incorporate that into an interior”…
Marsala is a warm, greyed, red-purple, mauve even and looks great teamed with grey, soft jade green, navy and black. It suits modern, classic and traditional interiors, it kind of reminds us of Abigail Ahern or Sibella Court so we think – how would they use it? With that inspiration under our belts we then go forth and create our own way of using it. You can also do your own version of it, use it brighter or duller or perhaps a shade with more red, blue, black or grey in it, really it's up to you how you want to interpret it.
We have found a few images of how you could use the colour, and are sure you’ll be inspired too! Usually we find it takes a while for new colours to work their way into the market though I noticed at the recent Reed Gift Fair and Home & Giving Expo that there was a hint of it starting to come through. Obviously we don't recommend that you follow trends religiously, it's important for you to find your own sense of style but its great to throw a little interest around every now and again. Abigail Ahern has quite strong views on trends - on both colour and interiors so we will be sharing that with you soon
