I'm wall over it - Dark and Brooding Walls

I couldn't help falling in love with the dark walls in the images below, a simple way to add drama, depth and interest to a room.  I could get a lot of sleep (and dreaming) done in the 2 gorgeous bedrooms below...

It's trending right now and it's very cool no matter if your style is eclectic and rustic, earthy and nature inspired or cool, clean and contemporary.  There appears to me a method to getting it just right, see if you can pick it...

The homes above add lots of white as a fresh and clean contrast to the darkness of the charcoal grey and the addition of timber whether it be floors or furniture soften the harshness of the colour contrast.  But what do you notice about the rooms below, how is the darkness of the room balanced to make it appear full of life and movement?

You got it - COLOUR!  The walls form a backdrop to the colours added to the room which really make them 'pop'.  And it appears any colour goes great with dark grey, black or navy - as if we didn't already know that.  I even love how great it looks in a laundry, especially with green accents...

For my next reno, which hopefully won't be too far away, I'm using these images as inspiration and you can bet there'll be a dark wall or room added!
