COLORBOND® Shale Grey® and Surfmist®

Pale grey + white = very nice! There is nothing jarring about the combination. It's classic, it's conservative, it's easy on the eye. Below are the Colorbond® colours that have been created for our Australian conditions.

Berry Gardens Festival

Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th of October

This is a favourite of ours. We love looking at what other people have achieved in their gardens. As Decorators we focus on the interior of the home & when it comes to the exterior it doesn't extend past a Colour Scheme. So snooping around in the garden is an absolute pleasure - we're never asked what should be done with a retaining wall, duck pond or garden path (thank heavens).

The cost to see all 8 gardens is $20 {any profit is donated to local charities & other ventures of benefit in the community - after discussion with garden owners}

Australian Christmas Outdoors

The joy of living down under is that we can enjoy an Australian Christmas outdoors.  Adapting the festive season to suit our balmy weather is so much fun.  Setting up a long table lunch in the backyard for all the rellies and friends can add to the festive atmosphere of Christmas.  Make it easy on yourself and use what you already have around the house and garden or better yet, assign a creative family member to the job while you concentrate on the food!  Merry Christmas everyone!

A Date with Dirty Who?

Dirty Jane is not the name of the person who answers the telephone.

Dwell has been to Dirty Jane's at Bowral more than a few times but we have not managed to get ourselves to an Auction (weekend, kids sport, husbands etc). It is on our 'to do' list for 2015. Might see you there ;)

Dates for your diary are ....

8th March + 17th May + 12th July + 13th September + 8th November            We have lifted the following excerpt from The Dirty Jane website

When the gates swing open 9am Sunday morning, you’re greeted with a huge selection of furniture, gardenware, architectural elements and bric a brac displayed in long rows for all to inspect, ready for auction time at 10am. All bidders must register and have a bidders number. A buyers premium of 17.5% applies.

Below are some of the fabulous stalls within the 'warehouse style' set-up of Dirty Janes

Someone's Garden

Over the Summer holidays the other half of Dwell (not the NZ half) visited family in Claireville on Pittwater, Northern Beaches of Sydney. Below is a taster from my Dad's garden ... I really want that copper pot to come home with me :)

The sculpture below is called 'Fandango' ... made by my Dad. We now have a 'Fandang'o style Bird Bath in our garden. All wood is recycled, pre-loved & now loved some more

The fabulous Bird Bath below was created and constructed by team 'Lisa and Andy' ... also known as my Sister and Brother-Inlaw. Again all recycled, discarded, unused & preloved materials were used. it's new home is in the tropical garden of David & Janet at Claireville.

Art in Your Garden

The Berry Gardens Festival had 11 gorgeous gardens to show off, beautiful weather & many admirers. The photos below were captured at only 2 of the gardens and show how art & sculpture can fit so beautifully amongst nature.

Decorate Your Garden

I love the idea of decorating outside. There really is so much you can do with your garden. Small courtyard to the 'yard', the suburban block to the rural vista. Think outside the square, recycle your old boat and use it as a sand pit or herb garden. Place those rusty gates apart to form a gateway to a path. Get thinking!

A beautiful Olive Tree .... Sharlene wants this for her new garden (which at the moment resembles a building site - because it is)
